To schedule a first comment, write it in the "First comment" field when you create a post or a schedule, and choose the networks it should go to. Uplonic publishes the comment under your own post about a minute after the post goes out. It is most useful for the link that cannot be clicked in a video description, but it is not available on every network and it cannot pin the comment.
Before you begin
You need a connected channel that is allowed to write comments, and you must be able to publish or schedule the item. No extra plan is required for the feature itself. Which networks support it depends on the network, as listed below. A channel that lacks the right to write comments is skipped, and the item says so.
Check the status of your network first. Support differs per network and can change as platforms approve permissions. The table in this guide was checked on 2026-10-24. Nothing here claims that a particular post was accepted by a network.
Where each network stands
Network | First comment | Note |
|---|---|---|
Supported | It is posted under the video's feed post. If Facebook has not finished processing the video, Uplonic retries and may skip it. | |
Threads | Supported | It is posted as a reply to your own post and counts against Threads' reply quota. |
YouTube | Supported after opt-in | The channel needs comment replies enabled first, which asks Google for an additional permission. |
Not yet | The required permission is not available to Uplonic customers at the time of writing. | |
TikTok, LinkedIn, Pinterest | Not available | These networks offer no API for it. Uplonic cannot write the comment. |
Write the comment
When you create a post or a schedule, scroll to the "First comment" field and type the text. Write the link out in full, for example the complete address starting with https. The comment can be up to 500 characters. The placeholder for a link only works in a publishing profile; on an individual item you type the real address. A post has no title, so the title placeholder cannot be used on a post.
Under "Where to post it" you choose which networks get the comment. Leaving it as is means every network where it is possible.
When it goes out
The comment does not go out together with the post. It is queued about a minute after publishing, and only for posts published in the last 24 hours. One post gets one first comment, and at most 20 first comments per channel can go out per day. Uplonic cannot pin the comment, so pin it by hand on the network if you want it highlighted.
Reuse a comment from the video, a default or a saved text
If the video has its own first comment, that one goes out by default. On one item, "Override" lets you replace it, and "Back to the video's comment" returns to it. On the Comments page, the "First comment" button has two tabs: "Default" pre-fills new content with that text, and does not change items that are already scheduled, while "Saved" keeps reusable comments you insert with one click.
Read the status
On the item you see what happened to the comment: Waiting, Posted, Skipped or Failed. A skipped comment shows the reason, for example that the channel lacks the right to write comments. "Retry" queues it again. If it is not certain whether the comment went out, Uplonic asks you to check under the post first, because a blind retry would write two identical comments.
Symptom | Check | Action |
|---|---|---|
The status is Skipped for a channel | The reason on the item names it, often the missing permission. | Enable comment replies on the channel, or reconnect it, then retry. |
Nothing appears after a minute | The queue runs about every minute and the network may be slow. | Wait a few minutes, then check the status before retrying. |
The text is rejected when saving | It may contain a title placeholder on a post, or be over 500 characters. | Remove the placeholder, or shorten the text. |
You want the comment at the top | Uplonic cannot pin comments. | Pin it by hand on the network. |
Scheduling the post itself is covered in the one video to every platform guide, and the comments guide shows how to answer the replies the comment attracts.
