One million TikTok views with a US audience earn about $255 from the Creator Rewards Program, not the $850 the headline rate suggests. TikTok pays only for qualified views on videos longer than a minute, and the rate depends on where your viewers watch from.
If you are weighing TikTok against Twitch and YouTube, our guide to becoming a streamer shows where short-form fits in a creator's income. This article covers one income source, what TikTok itself pays you for views, and ends with a calculator you can run on your own analytics.
What replaced the TikTok Creator Fund
TikTok launched the Creator Rewards Program on March 18, 2024, replacing both the original Creator Fund and the Creativity Program Beta that followed it. The Creator Fund was a fixed pot shared across all creators, so the more people joined, the less each view paid: industry estimates put it at roughly $0.02 to $0.04 per 1,000 views.
The new program changes two things. It pays far more per view, and it only rewards longer videos: anything under one minute earns nothing from the program, no matter how many views it gets.
Who can join in 2026
Two different countries matter on TikTok, and it helps to keep them apart. Your country decides whether you can join at all. Your viewers' countries decide how much each view pays (next section).
The program is open to creators living in the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Japan, South Korea and Brazil, and since October 2025 in Mexico. On top of that, TikTok's support page lists these requirements:
You are at least 18 years old.
You have at least 10,000 followers.
Your videos had at least 100,000 authentic views in the last 30 days.
You use a personal account (not a business account) in good standing.
If you live anywhere else, Hungary and most of the EU included, you cannot earn from the program, however big your audience is. Using a VPN to get around this breaks the terms. The calculator below still shows what your audience would be worth, which is useful for comparing TikTok with brand deals and other platforms.
What counts as a qualified view
Your public view count is not what you are paid on. A view is qualified when all of these are true:
It is on an original video longer than one minute.
It comes from the For You feed.
The viewer watched for at least 5 seconds.
The view is authentic (no bots, no view-swapping, no paid promotion).
The viewer did not mark the video "not interested".
Two of those filters cut deep. On a typical account, about 60% of views land on videos over a minute, and creators report that roughly half of the views on those videos qualify. Multiply the two and only about 30% of all your views are paid. Your real figures are in the Creator Rewards dashboard; plan with those, not with the public counter.
Watch out: Paying to promote a video does not raise your payout. Promoted views are excluded, so boosting a video to "unlock" rewards spends money on views that earn nothing.
How much TikTok pays per 1,000 views, by country
TikTok publishes no rate table. Its program terms say rewards are "calculated dynamically based on the country of the video views origin, the number of video views, video engagement and authenticity". So the rate follows your audience, not you.
The figures below are 2026 market benchmarks built from creator-reported payouts, per 1,000 qualified views. They sit inside the broader $0.40 to $1.00+ range that Influencer Marketing Hub reports.
Viewers in | RPM per 1,000 qualified views |
|---|---|
United States | $0.85 |
United Kingdom | $0.70 |
Germany | $0.62 |
France | $0.58 |
Japan | $0.55 |
South Korea | $0.52 |
Brazil | $0.32 |
Niche moves the rate as well. In the same benchmarks, finance runs about 1.3 times the baseline, business 1.22 times and tech 1.18 times, while gaming sits at 0.9 and entertainment at 0.85. And TikTok pays an additional reward on top for originality, play duration, search value and engagement, without publishing how much each factor weighs.
That puts TikTok between YouTube Shorts and YouTube long-form. For comparison, see how much YouTubers make by viewer country, Shorts and long-form.
Worked example: 1 million views a month
Take an account with 1 million views a month. Using the typical shares from above, here is how those views turn into money:
Step | Views |
|---|---|
All views | 1,000,000 |
On videos over 1 minute (60%) | 600,000 |
Qualified (50% of those) | 300,000 |
The payout is qualified views ÷ 1,000 × RPM, and the RPM depends on the audience:
Audience | Math | Per month |
|---|---|---|
US viewers | 300 × $0.85 | $255 |
US viewers, finance niche | 300 × $0.85 × 1.3 | $331.50 |
UK viewers | 300 × $0.70 | $210 |
German viewers | 300 × $0.62 | $186 |
Spread over all 1 million views, $255 is about $0.26 per 1,000 views, roughly a third of the headline $0.85. That ratio is the most useful number to remember when someone quotes you a TikTok RPM.
Now the minimum. A US account with 200,000 views a month on the same shares has 60,000 qualified views and earns about $51, just over TikTok's $50 payout threshold. Below that, the balance carries over to the next month.

Only videos longer than a minute earn rewards. Shorter clips count for the 30-day view requirement, but not for pay.
Watched 5+ seconds, from the For You feed, not marked “not interested”. Creators typically see about half. Your real figure is in the Creator Rewards dashboard.
The program is open only to creators living in eight countries. Using a VPN to get around it breaks the terms.

Three habits that raise the payout
You cannot change TikTok's rates, but you can change how many of your views count and how well they score on the additional reward:
Hook in the first 5 seconds. Views shorter than 5 seconds do not count, so the opening decides whether a view is worth anything.
Make the minute worth it. A 70-second video that holds attention earns on both the base and the additional reward; a 61-second video stretched to clear the minimum mostly loses viewers before it pays.
Say the topic out loud and in the caption. Search value is one of the additional-reward factors; name the game, product or question plainly so people find the video for a query.
Why brand deals and cross-posting usually pay more
For a creator with 10,000 to 50,000 followers, Creator Rewards is a small check. Brand deals are usually bigger. Meltwater's June 2026 rate estimates put a sponsored TikTok post at $5–$50 for nano creators (500–10K followers) and $25–$1,250 for creators with 10K–100K followers. A single post in the middle of that range can beat a month of view payouts.
You do not need 10,000 followers or an eligible country to do a brand deal. Our guide on how much to charge for a sponsored post shows how to set a rate, and the sponsorship rate calculator gives you a starting number from your average views.
The second lever is cross-posting. The same vertical video can run on TikTok, YouTube Shorts and Instagram Reels, and for a creator outside the eight countries, Shorts is the platform that pays for those views at all. If you stream, our walkthrough on turning streams into Shorts, TikToks and Reels covers cutting the clips; keep them over one minute when TikTok rewards are the goal.
Uplonic handles the publishing side: upload a clip once, write separate copy for TikTok, Shorts and Reels, and schedule each on its own timing.
FAQ
How much does TikTok pay for 1 million views?
Through Creator Rewards, about $255 with a US audience, assuming 60% of views are on videos over a minute and half of those qualify. With a UK audience it is about $210. Views on videos under a minute pay nothing.
How many followers do you need to get paid on TikTok?
Creator Rewards requires 10,000 followers, plus 100,000 views in the last 30 days, age 18+ and residence in one of the eight program countries. Brand deals have no follower minimum, which is why many small creators earn their first money there.
Do TikTok videos under 1 minute make money?
Not from Creator Rewards: only videos longer than 1 minute qualify. Shorter videos still count toward the 100,000-views requirement, and they can earn through brand deals or LIVE gifts.
Is the TikTok Creator Rewards Program available in Hungary?
No. The program is open to creators living in the US, UK, Germany, France, Japan, South Korea, Brazil and Mexico, and a VPN breaks the terms. Hungarian creators can still earn on TikTok through LIVE gifts and brand deals, and from the same videos on YouTube Shorts.
What is the minimum payout?
$50. TikTok pays monthly, and a smaller balance carries over to the next month.
Sources & methodology
How we got these numbers: the launch date, eligibility rules, qualified-view definition and country rule come from TikTok's own newsroom, support pages, program terms and its October 2025 Mexico announcement. TikTok does not publish rates, so the per-country RPMs and niche multipliers are 2026 benchmarks built from creator-reported payouts (Elev8or), cross-checked against Influencer Marketing Hub's range. The 60% and 50% shares in the worked example are typical creator-reported values, not TikTok figures; the calculator lets you replace them with your own. Sponsored-post rates are estimates from Meltwater. Checked October 2026.
