How to Connect a YouTube Channel to Uplonic

Connect a YouTube channel to an Uplonic workspace through Google's own sign-in, without sharing your password. This guide shows who can do it, what the permission screen means, how to read the channel's status and what happens when you pick a different account.

On this page

To connect a YouTube channel, open the add-channel window in your Uplonic workspace, click "Connect" next to YouTube and sign in on Google's own screens. Uplonic never asks for your password: you grant a permission, and the channel appears in the workspace with a status that shows whether its access is still valid.

This is the first publishing step after you create a workspace. If you want to see what the channel enables, the YouTube channel overview describes publishing to it.

Before you begin

You need an Uplonic app (workspace), the Owner or Manager role in it, and access to the Google account that manages the YouTube channel. Any plan can connect a channel, but the number of channels on the Free plan is limited, and on paid plans the channel count affects the bill. This guide does not quote numbers, because the catalog changes; the Pricing page is the reference.

Check scope: The flow below follows the dashboard and API code as of 2026-10-24. We did not complete a live Google sign-in for this guide, so the wording on Google's screens may differ from what you see.

Open the add-channel window

On the dashboard home page, the "Getting started" card has a channel step with a "Connect a channel" button. The same window opens from the "Add" menu, under "New platform". The window lists the "Connectable channels". Click "Connect" next to YouTube.

Sign in with Google and read the permission screen

You are sent to Google. First comes the account chooser: pick the account that manages the channel. Then Google shows the permission screen with what Uplonic asks for. Read it before you allow it. The permissions requested for a first connection cover publishing and the channel's details.

The right to write comments is not part of the first connection. Google treats it as broad write access to the account, so Uplonic asks for it only if you later turn on comment replies for an existing YouTube channel, which also needs a plan that includes replies. That later step is covered in the comments and quick replies guide. Publishing works without it.

Check that the channel is connected

Back in the dashboard, the channel card appears with the profile picture, the name and a status. A green status means the access is valid. The sidebar now shows a YouTube tile, the "Getting started" card moves on to the next step, and the YouTube channel is selectable wherever you choose where a post goes.

On the home page, the channel health strip shows when a channel's access has expired or the channel was disconnected. Publishing to that channel pauses until you reconnect it. "Reconnect" runs the same Google permission flow again. It refreshes the existing channel and does not create a new one.

One account or several

You can have more than one channel on a network. If you pick a different Google account while connecting, Uplonic creates a new, separate channel, and that channel is billed. If you pick the same account as an existing channel, only its access is refreshed. The add-channel window tells you in advance what a new channel means for your bill.

Action

You cannot connect the channel

Your role may be Staff, or the plan's channel count is reached.

Ask an Owner or Manager to connect it, or move the app to a plan with room for another channel.

Google shows the wrong account

The browser may be signed in to a different Google account.

Choose the right account in Google's chooser, or sign out of the other one first.

A second channel appeared that you did not expect

You chose a different Google account than the existing channel.

Disconnect the extra channel if you do not want it, and reconnect using the same account.

The channel shows an expired or disconnected state

The access was revoked or ran out.

Use "Reconnect" on the channel and repeat the Google sign-in with the same account.

Once the channel shows a green status, schedule your first YouTube video. Other networks connect the same way, except that you see their own permission screen instead of Google's, and some need a business account.
