How to Make a Link-in-Bio Page with the API in 2026

Create a draft link-in-bio page, add and order its links, then verify its public API response before sharing the URL. A tested minimal-template workflow with clear activation checks.

On this page

To make a link-in-bio page, create a page with a recognizable name and address, add the destinations your audience needs, then activate and check it before sharing the URL. This guide uses the Uplonic API and the minimal template to demonstrate that process, including the difference between a saved draft and a publicly available page.

The link-in-bio service overview explains the page's role in your publishing workflow. The API path below is useful when you want to create and maintain that page from your own integration. It is not a click-by-click dashboard walkthrough.

Before you begin

You need a workspace API key with write access, its API base URL, a desired page slug and the destination URLs. Send the key in the x-api-key header for management calls. The public read endpoint is different and does not need the key.

The test used plain text links and the minimal template. It did not upload images or exercise paid template features. Browse the link-in-bio template gallery for design ideas, then check the options available to your workspace before choosing a different template.

Test scope: On 2026-10-17 we exercised the actual page-management and public-page API routes over HTTP against media_api_dev in a dedicated demo workspace. Draft creation, links, ordering, activation, visibility and deactivation were checked. We did not publish a production page, test the hosted frontend, click the gallery or change a real social profile.

Create a draft page

Choose a slug that identifies your brand and check availability with GET /landing-pages/slug-available?slug=YOUR_SLUG. Our dev test confirmed that the demo name was available before creation and unavailable afterward. An available name can still be claimed before your create request finishes.

Send POST /landing-pages with the following JSON. Replace YOUR_UNIQUE_SLUG; the example name and bio are editable copy.

{
  "slug": "YOUR_UNIQUE_SLUG",
  "displayName": "Creator demo",
  "bio": "Watch, read and get in touch.",
  "template": "minimal"
}

Save the returned page ID. In the dev test on 2026-10-17, this returned HTTP 201 and status: "draft". An unauthenticated public read of the draft returned HTTP 404. A successful create response therefore does not mean the page is already public.

The slug validator accepts lowercase letters, digits and hyphens, beginning with a letter or digit, and rejects reserved names. Our test attempted to rename the page to admin and received a validation error. These are Uplonic page-address rules, not social-network username rules.

For each destination, send POST /landing-pages/PAGE_ID/links. This tested body uses an example domain; replace it with the real destination before sharing.

{
  "title": "Watch the latest video",
  "url": "https://example.com/video"
}

Add another link in the same way, such as a newsletter destination. Keep each returned link ID. Our dev test rejected a javascript: URL; the endpoint requires an HTTP or HTTPS URL. That format check does not verify that the destination is available or belongs to you, so open each real destination yourself.

Use labels that name the action or content. A visitor should be able to distinguish your latest video, newsletter and contact destination without opening every button. This is editorial guidance, not a claim about measured conversion gains.

Order, activate and inspect the page

To reorder, send PUT /landing-pages/PAGE_ID/links/reorder with an array of link IDs and positions. This is an array request body, not an object containing a list.

[
  { "id": "NEWSLETTER_LINK_ID", "position": 0 },
  { "id": "VIDEO_LINK_ID", "position": 1 }
]

The positions are the tested example values from 2026-10-17. Our public response listed the newsletter before the video after this change. When the links are ready, send PATCH /landing-pages/PAGE_ID with {"status":"active"}.

Verify with GET /public/landing/YOUR_SLUG without sending the API key. In the dev test, the active page returned HTTP 200 with its display name and links in the requested order. The same test confirmed that a disabled link was omitted from this response.

The hosted Uplonic page uses the /landing/YOUR_SLUG address. That frontend route was verified in the code, but its rendered appearance was outside this API test. Before you put the production address in a profile, open it while signed out, check it on your phone and follow every intended button. Profile editing and website-link eligibility depend on the social network and are not covered by this guide.

To hide a link, send PATCH /landing-pages/PAGE_ID/links/LINK_ID with {"enabled":false}. To take the whole page out of public access, update the page with {"status":"inactive"}. Our 2026-10-17 test verified that the hidden link disappeared and that the inactive page returned HTTP 404 from the public API.

Symptom

Check

Action

The new page is not public

Its status may still be draft.

Finish the links, activate it and repeat the unauthenticated read.

A link is missing

Check enabled and any start or end dates.

Enable the intended link and check its visibility window.

The slug is rejected

Check format and reserved names.

Choose a valid non-reserved slug; admin was rejected in our test.

A destination is rejected

The endpoint expects an HTTP or HTTPS URL.

Supply the full website address, then verify the destination separately.

Once the real page passes those checks, coordinate it with the content you publish. The publishing service overview describes that related workflow; activating a link-in-bio page does not create social posts.

Sources & methodology

Checked 2026-10-17. The primary product sources are Uplonic's landing-page management route, public landing route and slug validator. The hosted address was checked in the frontend route implementation. The HTTP test used the minimal template, plain links and a dedicated dev workspace, then removed its records. Image uploads, the template-gallery flow, hosted rendering and social-profile edits were not tested.

  • Uplonic link-in-bio overview — product context, checked 2026-10-17; API behavior above comes from the implementation and dev checks.
  • Uplonic template gallery — design reference, checked 2026-10-17; the gallery flow is outside the tested minimal-template API workflow.
