How to choose a username that works
A good handle is easy to say, easy to spell and the same everywhere. If someone hears it in a video, they should be able to type it without seeing it. Short beats clever, and one word with a clear link to your niche beats a string of random words.
Try to use the same handle on every platform. Check all of them before you commit: an idea that's free on TikTok but taken on Instagram is better changed now than after you've grown.
02
Handle rules, platform by platform
X allows up to 15 characters: letters, numbers and underscores, and no names containing Twitter or Admin. YouTube handles are 3 to 30 characters, with letters, numbers, underscores, hyphens and periods, which can't come first or last. Instagram allows up to 30 characters with letters, numbers, periods and underscores; TikTok 2 to 24, and a TikTok username can't end in a period.
Every idea the generator shows already passes these checks for the platform you picked. For Instagram we use a stricter period rule (none at the start or end, never two in a row) so the ideas never fail on it.
03
Aesthetic usernames and display names
Aesthetic handles lean on soft, short words (moon, petal, honey), simple prefixes like its or hey, and a period or underscore in the middle. Handles can only use plain letters, so the fancy look goes in your display name instead: the generator shows your name in cursive, small caps and more, ready to paste.
Your username is also where your link in bio starts. Once you have it, a link-in-bio page under the same name ties your profiles together.

Ideas are built in your browser from word lists and patterns, no AI and nothing is sent anywhere. X and YouTube rules come from their help pages. Instagram and TikTok don't publish their rules in one help article; we follow what their sign-up forms enforce, with a stricter period rule so ideas never fail on it. We don't check availability.
