Why Instagram line breaks disappear
The most common cause is invisible: a space at the end of a line. Notes apps and keyboards leave them behind, and a line ending in a space can be joined with the next one or lose the blank line after it. The second cause is the empty line itself, some apps and views collapse several empty lines into one, or into none.
This tool fixes both. It removes trailing spaces and tabs from every line, puts an invisible character (U+2800) on each empty line so it isn't empty any more, and drops blank lines at the very start and end.
02
Invisible character or a dot?
The invisible character keeps the caption clean, it shows as an empty line. The dot is the older workaround and is visible, but some people prefer it because it's obvious what holds the space.
Both count as one character toward Instagram's 2,200-character caption limit, so a caption with many empty lines uses a few extra characters.
03
Write captions people can scan
Short paragraphs with a blank line between them read better on a phone than one block. Put the hook on the first line, it's what shows before "…more", and keep hashtags at the end, after a blank line.

Formatting runs in your browser. Empty lines get the Unicode character U+2800 (BRAILLE PATTERN BLANK). Instagram's 2,200-character caption limit is from Meta's IG User Media reference. We can't guarantee how every app version renders spacing, so check the post after publishing.
